Napa Valley
Wine connoisseurs know that Napa Valley is the preeminent destination for those with a discerning palate. This lush California valley is home to more than 400 wineries and produces world-class wines, including the award-winning and highly coveted Cabernet Sauvignon. Napa Valley isn't just a pleasant place to sip wine; it is a mecca for all things wine related. You can enjoy wine tours, chat` with master vintners, wander through vineyards, and, of course, enjoy an unrivaled culinary experience amid the striking beauty of the valley and surrounding hills.
Napa Valley is wine country and a favorite vacation spot for wine lovers and foodies. The winery owners, winemakers, and staff are devoted to giving guests a hedonistic adventure. Not surprisingly, Napa Valley sees a spike in visitors coinciding with the grape harvest season, from August to October, but thanks to California's balmy climate, Napa Valley is a year-round attraction. In fact, approximately 3.85 million people travel to this wine region each year.
Napa Location
Napa Valley is a 789-square-mile valley located fifty miles north of San Francisco between the Vaca and Mayacamas mountain ranges. Sonoma County Airport is a little more than 30 miles away, Buchanan Field Airport is 40 miles away, San Francisco International Airport is 70 miles away, Oakland International Airport is 63 miles away, and Sacramento International Airport is 75 miles away.
Napa Valley Attractions
Some must-sees in Napa Valley and downtown Napa include Castello di Amorosa, with its Tuscan-inspired castle, The French Laundry, for some of the best French cuisine this side of Paris, the Oxbow Public Market, a sunny, open-air farmer's market, and the Napa Valley Wine Train, a moving restaurant on a vintage locomotive that circles the valley. Indulge at the wineries' tasting rooms and restaurants, lounge poolside at one of the fabulous resorts, or, if you are feeling adventurous, take a hot air balloon ride over Napa Valley. Just be sure to pack your favorite bottle of wine.
